The Children’s Hour: Open Piano for Kids at the Saloon

  • The Saloon 1205 U Street Northwest Washington, DC, 20009 (map)

Who: Any and all kids with musical interest! There will be a sign up sheet upon arrival.  If you and your kid simply want to listen to the musical stylings of their friends and peers, please join too!

What: Open piano! It's like open mic night, but especially geared for pianists.  Any performer can sign up to play up to 2 songs.  While any type of instrument is welcome, the venue offers a piano and mic - so you'd need to bring your instrument.  For singers, we will try to identify an accompanist (please bring sheet music) or plan to sing a capella.

Where: Upstairs at the Saloon - 1207 U Street NW - all ages welcome!

When: Wednesday, May 17th 6:30-7:30pm.  And every 3rd Wednesday after that.

Details: Every performer can sign up for up to 2 songs, playing on a first come first serve basis.  At 7:30, the regular, adult Open Piano will begin - feel free to stick around for some incredible musicians and performers.

About Open Piano: Open Piano is the only event of its kind in the DMV. There is no recorded background music. An acoustic piano is the only instrument, and any pianist or singer can stroll in and give it a try. All styles of music are welcome, from opera to honky-tonk. We are also open to some of the lighter instruments sitting in; violins, cellos, flutes and even the occasional saxophone

About The Saloon: The Saloon is a non-profit pub, the HQ of the Kamal Foundation, and any funds over expenses are used to build schools and clinics all over the world.
