Spring Call for Zine Submissions

Dear Temp Garden Friends <3 !

I’m reaching out because it’s time for another garden zine! I loved connecting with the entire greater-garden community during the process of developing and distributing the winter zine, and I’m so excited to do it again in an even bigger and better way for the next few zines we’ll make to document the remaining months of the garden.

Just to recap: zines are usually short, DIY, print mini magazines that focus on a particular theme. I love zines, and I view them as a portable community bulletin board. If you don’t yet have a copy of the winter one for your inspo/zine reading pleasure – let me know & we can get you one!

The garden’s first zine focused on autumn and gratitude and included recipes and stories about those recipes. My goal for TAG zine #2 is to focus on themes of spring and growth, and, in addition to recipes I want to this time include a variety of writing and art – whatever you’re into! Submissions can be handwritten or typed – it’s all up to you and we’ll need a mix of both! If your submission is handwritten, we’ll have to meet up irl so that you can bring it to me (that scans in way better than a photo). You can also work on your submission while IN the garden. Soooo full circle.

I loved meeting a bunch of new zinester faces at the dream fair last week! If you didn’t get a chance to make it out, I’ve attached a photo of the poster I had set up there for inspo.

As far as dimensions go: each page will be the size of a page of printer paper folded in half hamburger-style. If you’re drawing anything, keep that sizing in mind. If that’s not possible no worries – I can also resize anything by scanning and moving it around digitally.

You can bring any physical manifestation of your ideas to the garden (& any thoughts/questions!!) or to me virtually at saracmack8@gmail.com. I want to collect everything before May 31st so that I can put the zine together asap and distribute it hopefully before the official start of Summer!

Long live zines, DIY spirit, and TAG.

<3 sara

TLDR: I want to make a recipe zine for the garden! Send me your recipes/writing/art/any other content with spring themes to be included by May 31st.
