U Street Neighborhood Association Quarterly Meeting

  • Thurgood Marshall Center 1816 12th Street Northwest Washington, DC, 20009 (map)

On Wednesday 4/19 we'll be holding our first quarterly membership meeting of 2023, from 6–7:30pm at the Thurgood Marshall Center (1816 12th St NW).

Completed in 1912, this building was once home to the 12th Street YMCA—one of the most important 20th century institutions of the U Street neighborhood. Teddy Roosevelt helped lay the cornerstone at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Y, which served as a meeting space for countless community organizations. Read all about it before seeing it in person: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelfth_Street_YMCA_Building

At our meeting we'll...

  • Hear what's new with USNA's committees on Harrison Park, Temperance Alley, and public safety

  • Discuss the 1250 U Street planned unit development and our goals for 2023

  • Host a book swap to jumpstart the USNA lending library

I'm excited our association is becoming a network for hyperlocal learning. To keep the educational energy ablaze, bring 1 or 2 books you'd like to share with a neighbor—and you'll leave with a new rabbit hole to explore. After the meeting, we'll head over to Open Piano Night & drinks at The Saloon on U Street.
