Join your neighbors at the Harrison Rec Center as we come together to host an afternoon of activities for our second annual Juneteenth Celebration!
This is a youth-centered community event that will feature face painting, art making, and live music. Plus a basketball tournament on the newly remodeled court.
The U Street Neighborhood Association has spent the past few years getting the space back open, and this event will also serve as a community celebration alongside the newly renovated V Street Studio. Various membership-based community organizing groups focusing on black liberation, economic empowerment, health equity, and access to early learning in DC, as well as other national organizations, will join this year's effort.
Event activities include:
Live Band
Face Painting
Basketball Giveaway
Basketball Tournament
Community Speakers
Coloring Mural
V Street Studio Gallery Tour
In partnership with our friends at Long Live GoGo, U Street Main Street, DPR, and the Kiwanis Club — this artistic activation is designed to uplift platforms from various backgrounds throughout the DMV, engage inner-city youth, and unite the culture of the metropolitan area. We hope to see you there!
